Teaching Fellow/Intern Teacher Job Description

Epiphany is an independent middle school dedicated to providing a rigorous, tuition-free education to boys and girls of all faiths from economically disadvantaged families from Boston. We are looking for recent college graduates who feel a commitment to the city, education, and children, and who feel excited about the idea of working for a school that is open twelve hours a day. The intern's primary responsibilities will be teaching, with assistance and supervision from a department head, coaching sports and managing a major area of school life such as: the kitchen, the sports program, maintenance of buildings and grounds, etc. While it is recognized that the interns will have little or no teaching experience, the entire atmosphere is one of collaboration and mutual learning.   • Visit the school for a day for initial visit
  • Return to teach a mini lesson

Duties:
  • Teach (including writing lesson plans and developing curriculum) 2 classes
  • Serve as member of an Area Team : Kitchen, Outreach, High School Placement, Buildings and Grounds, Administration, Technology
  • Coach: An interscholastic or recreational sport
  • Supervise: Recess, Study Halls, Meals, Trips
  • Monitor evening study for two or three evenings a week
  • Monitor recess, meals, front desk, and phones
  • Attend weekly faculty meetings
  • Attend department, grade, and team meetings
  • Attend school wide assemblies, services and gatherings
