The Rev. John H. Finley, IV

The Rev. John H. Finley, IV

Head of School and Co-Founder

Mr. Finley has been working in education since he graduated from Harvard College in 1992 and is an Episcopal priest serving at St. Mary’s in Upham's Corner in Dorchester. For four years, he taught English, Social Studies, Algebra, and Latin at Nativity Preparatory School in Roxbury, MA, a tuition-free Jesuit middle school serving low-income, urban boys in grades 5-8.  In 1995, he founded a summer school for Nativity Prep at Groton School in Groton, MA. Mr. Finley was also a founding member of On the Rise, an innovative program for homeless women, and is a trustee of The Stephen J. Phillips Scholarship Trust, a program awarding funds annually to graduating high school seniors with significant financial need for college.  John and his husband, Stan McGee, live in Boston. John writes, “I do my best to support the teachers and students to make sure that every child succeeds.  We need to honor the incredible gifts in these amazing children.”

Michelle Gomes Sanchez

Michelle Gomes Sanchez

Principal of the Middle School and Early Learning Center

Dr. Sanchez earned her B.A., M.Ed. and Ed D at Boston College. While at Boston College, she was in the Donovan Scholars Program for teachers committed to urban education and then completed her doctorate at Boston College in Educational Administration with a focus on strengthening the family and school partnership. She was a founding Math and Science teacher at Epiphany, has served as Vice Principal and as the Director of the Summer Program.  She has also earned her Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) Certifications as Center Director, Lead Preschool, Toddler and Infant Teacher before we opened the Epiphany Early Learning Center. Dr. Sanchez is married and lives on campus with her husband, Lino Sanchez, and two sons Lino, Jr. and Jaylin.

Frannie Abernethy Armstrong

Frannie Abernethy Armstrong

Curriculum Director and Department Chair

Frannie is entering her twenty-third year at Epiphany School.  After earning her B. A. in English Literature from Davidson College, Ms. A taught for three years at a public high school in Charlotte, North Carolina before moving to Boston in 1998 to become one of Epiphany’s founding teachers. She earned her masters in Language and Literacy at Harvard University a koi and is currently her Ph.D. at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.  She lives in Medfield, MA with her husband, and her two children.

Frank Penney

Frank Penney

Assistant Principal , Science Dept. Head, Director of Facilities

Mr. Penney earned his B.A. at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA and went on to earn his M.A. in leadership studies with a focus on educational leadership from the University of San Diego. Originally from north of Boston, Mr. Penney spent six years teaching at Nativity Prep Academy in San Diego, CA where he had the opportunity to teach a variety of subjects, coach numerous sports teams, and serve as dean of students and assistant principal. Mr. Penney has taught math, science and PE at Epiphany and is currently the assistant principal, science department head and director of facilities. He is dedicated to developing positive relationships with students and their families to help them reach their fullest potential. Mr. Penney is married and lives with his wife, Michelle Penney, and their five children.

A.B. Deleveaux

A.B. Deleveaux

Director of Arts & Culture

A.B. Deleveaux is a passionate educator with over 11 years of experience in teaching and school leadership. He currently serves as the Director of Arts and Culture at the Epiphany School, where he is responsible for creating a positive and supportive school atmosphere that fosters student learning and growth.


Before assuming this role, A.B. served as the Arts Director and taught 7th-grade World History, Theatre, and World Religion at Epiphany. He brings his enthusiasm for art, history, culture, and spirituality into the classroom, inspiring students to think critically and engage with the world around them.


Outside the classroom, A.B. co-founded the Epiphany Brotherhood, a group focused on instilling life skills in young boys and helping them grow into confident, responsible men. His commitment to his students’ development is evident in his dedication to supporting their academic and personal growth.


A.B.'s impact extends beyond the school. He has collaborated with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, New England Conservatory, Rob Gibbs (ProBlak), Frank Rivera (FTB), Concepts, Jenee Osterheldt, Keith Mascoll, and local museums such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and the Institute of Contemporary Art. His latest project, the Family Flea Market, brought together Epiphany students, families, and the community for a back-to-school event filled with activities and resources. A.B. believes in using the arts as a tool to build relationships and drive social change.

Shalaun Brown

Shalaun Brown

Operations and Volunteer/Family Support Manager

Ms. Brown joined Epiphany School in 2022, bringing over two decades of experience from her work in Boston Charter Schools and her role as a Residential Counselor at St. Mary’s Women and Infant Center. Prior to joining Epiphany, Ms. Brown served as the Director of Operations at Codman Academy Charter Public School.

Throughout her career, Ms. Brown has received recognitions from the City of Boston for her dedication to the non-profit sector. She was honored with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ “Governor’s Citation” for her invaluable contributions to the community, and the City Council of Boston acknowledged her compassion and commitment to serving those in need.

Ms. Brown is deeply committed to strengthening and empowering Epiphany families and the surrounding community. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending quality time with her family, and helping others.
